Cardiovascular

- Optimizing your Cardiovascular health benefits your entire body and your overall health.
- Coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases kill over half a million Americans each year.
- The three culprits in cardiovascular disease are chronic infections, high Homocysteine levels and Free Radical damage.
- Clogged arteries due to LDL Cholesterol and Calcium deposits are not the cause but the symptoms of Cardiovascular Disease.More Iinfo >>

Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is a disease in which the arteries of the body become damaged. Arteriosclerosis is characterized with abnormal thickening and hardening of the artery walls and is often related with calcium deposit buildup. Atherosclerosis is characterized as abnormal LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and lipid (fat) deposits in arterial linings of arteries. We are starting to see that damaged artery walls initiate both of these conditions and that the cholesterol and calcium deposits are secondary to the primary causes. The three primary culprits in CVD are Chronic Infection, high Homocysteine levels and Free Radical damage.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is now understood to involve infections; Science is beginning to realize that everyone has some form of chronic infection such as Chlamydia pneumoniae or the wide range of Human Herpes Viruses (HHV). C-reactive protein is an inflammatory marker (test); this marker indicates an increased risk for destabilized arteriosclerotic plaque (vulnerable plaque) and the presence of infections. A chronic infection flare up induces blood clots present on the wall of the arteries where the vulnerable plaque is, leading to a stroke or heart attack.

Homocysteine is an amino acid produced in the process of protein metabolism. Homocysteine is another risk factor marker (test) for CVD; increased levels due to the deficiency of certain nutrients, especially the B- vitamins, can damage the cells and tissues of arteries and lead to arteriosclerotic plaque growth. We can lower homocysteine levels nutritionally, and thereby lower our risk of heart and vascular disease. Vitamin B6 helps metabolize homocysteine into the harmless amino acid cysteine and folic acid (B9) along with its cofactor B12 are responsible for homocysteine being converted to methionine, thus lowering homocysteine levels.

Reactive oxygen molecules (Free radicals) are not only generated from environmental pollution, but are also by-products of our cellular activities that keep our bodies alive. When a free radical comes in contact with the inner lining of our arteries microscopic injuries result. Free radical damage to the artery walls initiates a natural repair sequence that results in the patching and buildup of calcium and cholesterol deposits. Once LDL cholesterol becomes oxidized by free radicals it becomes more destructive to the heart and highly toxic to the blood vessel walls than non-oxidized LDL.

Optimum supply of vitamins and other essential nutrients can prevent and help correct cardiovascular conditions. Lifestyle changes are the number one remedy for optimal cardiovascular health: eating a more organic nutritious diet, exercise, giving yourself more time to relax, quit smoking and dietary supplementation are some of the positive changes.

The discovery that heart attacks and strokes are the result of long-term chronic infections, nutrient deficiencies and wrong diet, not of elevated cholesterol or calcium, are leading to the control of the cardiovascular epidemic. Dr. Gordon, the consultant for Longevity Plus has worked out a protocol to optimize the body’s natural ability to hold all chronic infections at bay, since current research at the National Institute of Health (NIH) shows that these chronic infections are really never eradicated.
